Homestay Listing

If you live in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Cairns or other major city in Australia, you are most welcome to register your homestay with us by completing our online registration form. It is FREE to register.

As we receive applications from prospective guests, your homestay will be considered for suitable placement according to your homestay criteria and guest preferences.

We receive applications for homestay (full board) and room-only/share (part board) accommodation from a variety of international and in-country visitors, who intend to visit Australia or choose homestay for a range of purposes. The applicants are of all ages, all nationalities, stay for short and long terms (although we specify a 4 week minimum) and may be visiting for study, working holiday, business, or leisure.

Here are some of the standard requirements and considerations with respect to providing homestay:

  1. Be located within easy walking distance to a bus stop or train station that services the guest's Campus or venue within 30 minutes travelling time;
  2. Have a clean and tidy household;
  3. Have at least one safe, secure and private guest bedroom with ample storage space/wardrobe for the guest's belongings, and a desk, chair and lamp for study;
  4. Provide breakfast and dinner to the guest every day, with the addition of lunch on weekends;
  5. Provide access to bathroom and laundry facilities;
  6. Provide laundry services as agreed, if required;
  7. Provide access to other household items, such as towels, sheets, blankets and eating/cooking utensils and other facilities that are available in the homestay accommodation such as telephone (usually emergency and local calls only), TV, internet access or a swimming pool; additional charges may apply for use of telephone and internet; international students typically use pre-paid phone cards and/or their own cell phones and/or online chat or VOIP (e.g. Skype) to keep in touch with family and friends;
  8. Provide the guest with a key and/or alarm passwords to the homestay accommodation to allow them free access;
  9. Provide a general orientation to the local area and community facilities available;
  10. Accompany the guest on or before their first day at their College or University; or, at the very least, familiarise the guest with the public transport system (if applicable) and routes to/from the homestay accommodation and college/workplace.

Homestay guests are expected to keep their own rooms clean and tidy, and contribute regularly as required to general chores, such as vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning toilet & bathroom after use, and helping in the kitchen at meal times (wiping table top, sink bench, and washing dishes or stacking dishwasher).

Homestay guests are also expected to limit their shower times due to any water restrictions imposed on residents in Brisbane and other parts of Australia (acceptable shower times tend to vary between homestays from 4 minutes to 8 minutes tops).
